Key Characteristics of an Enduro Bike
Suspension on an enduro mountain bike sits between a lively all-rounder trail bike and a single-purpose downhill bike. Giant’s Reign Advanced and Reign series come with 160mm of rear suspension travel and a 170mm suspension fork to help smooth trail impacts and give you control to blast through whatever the trail throws your way.
The new Reign Advanced and Reign series allow you run 29-inch wheels in the front and rear, or to swap out the rear for a 27.5-inch wheel. Using the 29-inch rear wheel optimizes stability and roll-over capabilities, while the 27.5-inch option gives you a more agile, snappier feel.
Enduro bike geometry is characterized by a relatively long wheelbase for greater stability at high speeds. A slacker head tube angle can give you more confidence on technical descents, and a steep seat tube angle helps with climbing efficiency by keeping your weight centered. The Reign range also offers three flip-chip settings to dial in frame geometry for riding style and terrain.
Enduro bikes tend to weigh between 32-40 pounds. Because of their added suspension capabilities, they typically weigh more than trail bikes. Their stronger, more durable components and larger diameter tires add weight as well.
